today...

okay. we've had the best morning. remember me telling you about something fun we had coming up? well it was today. a few weeks ago i woke up one morning thinking about all the conversations i have with other moms about what our children eat/don't eat...like/don't like and we're always asking each other for ideas so i thought...what better way than to get us all together for some food & fun {and hopefully a few recipes for things our kids will eat}. so it all started with this invite...

as you can read, the guests were to bring one dish that incorporated a fruit or vegetable that their kid enjoys. then make recipe cards for all of us in case our kid enjoyed it as well. healthful, tried & approved recipes is what i was after. i already knew what i was making {recipe to come later} and i couldn't wait to see what others would show up with.

so georgia and i got the cups ready for berry banana smoothies...

set the table for all our guests...

found outfits to coordinate with the decor {can you say nerd}...

and waited for the party to start. i sent the tent cards with the invites so that when our guests showed up with their food we could all identify what it was. and boy were there some yummy things...

pizza bites...spinach egg muffins...asian noodles with tofu cubes...and my favorite.. the 'health-by-chocolate cookies. they have pureed spinach and blueberries in them and you'd never know. yum. yum.
the kids had a great time eating and being together. my little ham loves a friend over so when there is 6 of them over, she can't take it. permanent smile. she gets is honest. we love a party....
the result was good and all of us left with a some things to try for our own family. as i told my friends today before i prayed for our time together, we all have the same desire...to raise healthy kids. spiritually and physically. and we need each other. for encouragement and wisdom and humor and just plain friendship. that was my whole goal today. to be together. to walk one step in this journey together. today we walked together at lunch. the Lord will honor our time together and our efforts. this i know.
and because i couldn't resist, i made each child a tag for their lunchbox. a little something special to say thank you for coming...
and also a little something that didn't include a fruit or vegetable. but lots of butter and sugar and sprinkles...

told you it was fun huh? wish you all could have been here with us. for those of you with small children, i encourage you to do the same with your group of friends. you'll be blessed and full. hope you all have a great weekend. love from us all....
'But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today...'
